The two‑day conference Alma Inclusive 2026 – Where Inclusion Drives Growth – built on the community of practice that has formed around the Profesia Lab initiative and brought it to a new level. It broadened the topic of employing people with diverse abilities into a wider social and economic context, connecting it with active ageing, equal opportunities and other factors that influence access to work.

In 2025, Alma Career Slovakia, in cooperation with PricewaterhouseCoopers Slovakia and the salary portal paylab.com, carried out an international survey on workplace diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). We wanted to know how employees feel when working with diverse colleagues, whether they experience discrimination, and to what extent they perceive their work environment as fair.

The Alma Inclusive 2026 Conference showed that the future of the labour market will not belong to companies that look for “perfect” people, but to those that learn to work with real people – including those with disabilities. Martin Kahanec’s opening presentation, “Transformation of the Labour Market”, opened the conference with a powerful message: inclusion is both a moral and an economic imperative, not an optional add-on.

A new Alma Career survey among employees in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia shows that parenthood can still be perceived as a “risk” in the labour market – not only when applying for a job, but also in career progression and in the day-to-day organisation of work. Many parents report limited opportunities for growth, while their childless colleagues feel they carry an unfair share of the workload.
